With its blend of rich history and friendly locals, Jordan is a little known Middle-Eastern dream for tourists. Jordan’s is most memorable for Lawrence of Arabia, but has much more to offer than a film credit. It is host to some of the most outstanding ancient architecture the world has to offer, with the ancient city of Petra a prime example of this. Lost for 1000 years and only rediscovered in 1812, this ancient capital of the Nabateans is a sight to be seen, as the whole city is hewn from the side of a cliff. Also, there is Jerash, a near-perfectly preserved Roman city containing the temple of Zeus as well as the South Theatre, which was capable of holding 5,000 spectators.
