St. Lucia is and island engulfed in colonial history. During the colonial period, it changed hands between British and French rule an incredible 14 times. This has left the island with a unique mix of British and French colonial architecture as well as some Creole buildings. St. Lucia is also known for its twin mountains, ‘Les Pitons’, that rise out of the southern shore of the island so majestically.
St. Lucia has much to do for a Caribbean holiday. There is yachting, particularly at Marigot Bay. There is also diving and beaches scattered all over the coastline. Inland, there are waterfalls, sulphur springs and rainforests to explore, as well as dormant volcanoes to discover.
St. Lucia is an all year round vacation resort due to temperatures not changing greatly with the seasons. However, avoid the somewhat rainy season of June to November as this also attracts hurricanes.
