Trinidad and Tobago are the Ying and Yang of the Caribbean. Although they are sister islands, there could not be more difference between them. Trinidad is a busy, cosmopolitan island, with a population of over 1.2 million people, whereas Tobago is a sleepy, laid back paradise with a population of under 55,000.
There is much to do on these two islands, with the difference between the two allowing for a combined energetic and relaxing holiday. Port of Spain, Trinidad’s capital is a Caribbean metropolis, with Independence Square being the place for a good restaurant or club. Tobago, on the other hand, is famous for deserted beaches, scuba diving in coral reefs, and the wonderful waterfalls that can be found inland un the ample, undisturbed forestry.
Carnival, which is in either February or March, on the two days after Ash Wednesday, is the best time to visit Trinidad. However, the islands can be successfully visited any time throughout the year.
